* Karel Schoeman received this year’s Prix du Meilleur Livre Étranger (Best Foreign Book) for Cette vie, the French translation of "Hierdie lewe" (Human & Rousseau). This prestigious French prize was created in 1948 and previous winners include Orhan Pamuk, Philip Roth, Salman Rushdie, Gabriel García Márquez and John Updike. The English translation, "This Life", was also published by Human & Rousseau.
* "Siyolo se trui" deur Mari Grobler & Elizabeth Pulles (Tafelberg) het onlangs die IBBY Honour List gehaal en het ook die 2008/2009 Exclusive Books/IBBY–prys vir die beste geïllustreerde Suid-Afrikaanse kinderboek ontvang.
* Tafelberg author, Niki Daly, recently won the Molteno Medal in Gold for his service to literature. Niki is the author of the popular Jamela-series.
* "Staan in die algemeen nader aan vensters" deur Loftus Marais het onlangs die Protea-prys vir beste digbundel 2008 gewen. Marais se digbundel is deur Tafelberg uitgegee.
